SRH’s 5-wicket win over CSK take them to IPL 2026 playoffs, GT also qualify for next round

Ishan Kishan’s innings of 70 runs led Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 5-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings in Match No. 63 of the IPL 2026. Chasing 181 in an away game at Chepauk, the Men in Orange reached the target in 19 overs.

Kishan hit 7 fours and 3 sixes in 47 balls, with his runs coming at a strike rate of 148.93 on a slow track. With their 8th win of the season, Hyderabad remained third in the points table, with the Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of them. SRH and GT have qualified for the playoffs, joining RCB on the list. Punjab Kings, CSK, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals are still alive in the playoffs race. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have been eliminated.

Meanwhile, Chennai kept things tight. Travis Head (6 off 6) was unable to get going, and even Abhishek Sharma (26 off 21) couldn’t time the ball. Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen added important runs to keep the scoreboard ticking. They stitched a 75-run stand, with the South African batter amassing 47 runs in 26 deliveries, with the help of 6 boundaries and 2 maximums.

Salil Arora (10 off 5) and Ravichandran Smaran (5 off 2) remained unbeaten. Mukesh Choudhary dismissed two batters while Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, the Super Kings batters struggled on the slow track. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad faced 21 balls for 15 runs while the likes of Sanju Samson (27 off 13) and Urvil Patel (13 off 8) didn’t convert their starts into big totals.

Kartik Sharma (32 off 19), Dewald Brevis (44 off 27), and Shivam Dube (26 off 23) took the score to 180 for 7 in 20 overs.

Pat Cummins was the best bowler in the match, picking up three wickets for just 28 runs. Sakib Hussain was also impressive, claiming two scalps and giving away 34 runs.

Eshan Malinga and Praful Hinge took one wicket each for the 2016 champions.
