Team India defeated the hosts Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test played in Galle. The second and final Test of the series will be played on 23 August, and Sri Lanka have suffered a triple blow. Three players are out. Two of which were already out. The third player to be out is Dinesh Chandimal.

Sri Lanka head coach Gary Kirsten confirmed that Dinesh is not available for the upcoming Test.
He also discussed other players, including Kusal Mendis, who has a hamstring injury. Opening batsman Pathum Nissanka is also out with a wrist injury.
Why was Dinesh Chandimal out?
Dinesh suffered a head and neck injury while fielding in the first Test. Pasindu Suryabhandara was brought in as a substitute for Concussion, making Pasindu’s Test debut. Dinesh Chandimal has now been ruled out of the second Test as well.
What did Gary Kirsten say?
Speaking to the media, Gary Kirsten said, “Kusal Mendis has a hamstring injury and will not be available for a while. Dinesh is also not available for the next Test. We will miss some guys, but it will be a good opportunity for the young players to come and prove their abilities.”

Team India dominated the Galle Test. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Indian team was bowled out for 462 runs. Devdutt Padikal top scored for the team with 167 runs. Sri Lanka were then restricted to 284 in their first innings, with Manav Suthar taking the highest four wickets for India. This gave India a lead of 178 runs. India were then bowled out for 193 in the second innings, leaving Sri Lanka with a target of 372 runs. Chasing 165, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206, leading to a 165-run victory.
