Mathura: The police administration has made extensive preparations for security and crowd management for the Radhashtami festival to be held on September 19 at the world famous Radharani temple. Seeing the possibility of lakhs of devotees reaching Barsana on the festival, SSP Shlok Kumar, taking charge of the security arrangements of the fair, has divided the entire area into seven zones. Magistrates have been deployed along with police officers in each zone.
SSP Shlok Kumar said that to manage the crowd of devotees, monitoring will be done through single passage system, holding area, PA system, CCTV cameras and control room. Devotees will be sent for darshan in a systematic manner through barricading and channelization. In case of increase in crowd, the movement of devotees will be controlled by using holding area.
Vehicle movement will be controlled by traffic plan
The police has also prepared a special traffic plan regarding the Radhashtami fair. Under this, no-entry, one-way, movement of two-wheelers and parking areas have been marked at various places. Information related to traffic system is also being disseminated. The police administration has appealed to the devotees to use only the designated routes and parking places and cooperate in the arrangements made.
Policemen in plain clothes, SOG-SWAT also monitored
Adequate number of police forces and PAC have been deployed for security during the fair. Apart from civil police, plainclothes policemen and LIU teams will also be active. Flood PAC has been arranged at the ponds and other sensitive places of Barsana. Policemen will continuously tour the area and keep an eye on the situation.
SSP said that special vigil will be kept on pickpockets and unwanted elements among the crowd. Policemen in plain clothes have been deployed and suspicious activities will be monitored through CCTV. People who were involved in criminal activities in the past have been identified and banned. At the same time, SOG and SWAT teams will also keep an eye on the unruly elements by roaming in the area.
Police administration says that the aim of the preparations is to conduct the Radhashtami festival in a peaceful and safe manner. An appeal has been made to the devotees to follow the police-administration arrangements, maintain patience and return to their destination safely after having darshan of Radharani.
