The author of the 1974 horror novel CarrieStephen King has revealed what he thinks of Mike Flanagan‘s adaptation of the book.
Taking to Threads, on September 10, the 78-year-old author labelled the version as ‘brilliant.’
“Mike Flanagan’s version of CARRIE is brilliant,” he stated. “What it has to say about social media is shocking and true.”
Premiering October 7 on Prime Video, the supernatural horror miniseries stars Summer H. Howell in the titular role.
The series centers on Carrie White (Howell), a socially isolated high schooler who has grown up hidden away at home with her intensly protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan).
Carrie’s life takes a dramatic turn after her father’s unexpected death, forcing her into the unfamiliar world of public high school and a viral bullying scandal that quickly consumes her community.
As she struggles with the pressures and casual cruelty of social media, mysterious telekinetic powers begin to awaken as she comes of age.
