Mumbai: There was a decline in the domestic stock market during early trading on Friday. BSE Sensex fell 113 points to 74,187 points, while NSE Nifty fell 27.20 points to trade at 22,967.15 points. Continuous withdrawal of foreign investors and weakness in the shares of Reliance Industries put pressure on the market. However, the fall was limited due to strong buying in shares of information technology (IT) companies.
According to foreign exchange traders, after a four percent rise in the shares of Reliance Industries in the last trading session, it declined on Friday. This affected the initial business.
Fall in these shares including Reliance
Among the 30 Sensex companies, shares of Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finserv, Hindustan Unilever, Larsen & Toubro, Asian Paints and State Bank of India were the biggest losers.
On the other hand, Tech Mahindra shares registered a rise of about five percent. Buying in its shares increased after the company reported 32.74 percent increase in consolidated net profit in the July-September quarter of FY 2026-27. Shares of Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bharti Airtel and Titan were also seen trading with gains.
Asian markets rise, American markets also closed on the rise
There was a positive trend in Asian markets on Friday. South Korea's Kospi, Japan's Nikkei 225, China's SSE Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng were trading with gains. At the same time, American stock markets closed sharply on Thursday.
Foreign investors sold shares worth Rs 5,285 crore
According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 5,285.37 crore on Thursday. Continuous withdrawal of foreign capital remains a cause of pressure for the domestic market.
