Stock Market Today: Pressure on Indian market amid US-Iran tension, Sensex-Nifty fell as soon as it opened; loss to these stocks
Mumbai. Sensex and Nifty witnessed fluctuations in early trade on Monday due to increased tension between America and Iran. BSE Sensex fell 63.65 points to 77,047.63 points in early trade while NSE Nifty rose marginally by 16.55 points to 24,070.20 points. Later, Sensex fell 246.54 points to trade at 76,853.93 points while Nifty slipped 50.55 points to trade at 24,005.45 points.
Among the 30 companies included in the Sensex, shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports, InterGlobe Aviation, HCL Tech and Reliance Industries were the biggest losers. At the same time, shares of Eternal, Trent, Asian Paints and Tech Mahindra registered gains. In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined, while China’s SSE Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng registered gains.
US stock markets closed with a slight decline on Friday. The price of international standard Brent crude stood at around $ 72.51 per barrel with an increase of 0.72 percent. However, it is still at a relatively favorable level. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers on Thursday and bought shares worth Rs 383.76 crore. On Thursday, Sensex closed with a gain of 109.25 points and Nifty with a gain of 34.35 points. Indian stock markets were closed on Friday due to Muharram.
