Storm and rain wreaked havoc in UP, fear of death of many people across the state

The weather in Uttar Pradesh changed so suddenly that huge devastation was seen in many districts. Strong storm, rain and hailstorm badly affected life across the state. Till now many people are feared dead in this natural disaster. While a large number of people are said to be injured. Due to the storm, trees and electric poles fell at many places, due to which the power supply and traffic system were badly affected.

Heavy losses in many districts

Strong winds caused huge destruction in different districts of the state. At some places kutcha houses collapsed and at other places trees fell on vehicles and houses. The maximum impact was seen in Badaun, Lucknow, Sitapur, Barabanki, Sultanpur and many surrounding areas. Electricity supply came to a complete halt in many villages, due to which people had to spend the night in darkness.

Crops were also ruined in many areas due to heavy rains and storms. Wheat and vegetable crops standing in the fields have been heavily damaged. Farmers have demanded compensation from the government.

Impact on rail and road traffic

The storm and rain also affected railway services. At many places, trees and electrical wires fell on the railway tracks, due to which train operations were disrupted. Some trains had to be stopped midway, while the timing of many trains was changed. There was a traffic jam on the roads for hours. Traffic was affected due to falling of trees on many national and state highways.

Administration on alert mode

The Meteorological Department had already predicted the possibility of strong storm and rain due to western disturbance. According to the department, the weather may remain like this for the next few days. The administration has put district magistrates and disaster management teams on alert.

The state government has given instructions to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased. Besides, arrangements are also being made for the treatment of the injured. The teams of the Electricity Department and the Municipal Corporation are continuously engaged in removing fallen trees from the roads and restoring power supply.

Relief from heat, but problems increased

The state was in the grip of severe heat and heat wave for the last several days. People definitely got relief from the heat due to sudden change in weather, but the strong storm created new problems. Weather experts say that due to pre-monsoon activities, strong winds and rain may be seen in the coming days.
