‘Stranger Things’ star David Harbour cast in ‘John Rambo’ as iconic Major Trautman
From one battlefield to another, Stranger Things star David Harbour is joining the cast of John Rambo, the upcoming origin story of the iconic franchise.
David Harbour will take on the role of Major Trautman, Rambo’s commanding officer, in John Rambo, directed by Jalmari Helander, known for Sisu, as per Variety.
In John RamboNoah Centineo steps into the title role as a fierce, one-man fighting force.

Set ahead of the events of First Blood, the film traces the early life of John Rambo, a Vietnam veteran and Special Forces operative played originally by Sylvester Stallone, who emerges as the sole survivor of his unit; though scarred by the horrors of war, he harnesses his military expertise to battle corruption, including law enforcement and dangerous drug cartels.
The screenplay was helmed by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvan.
The upcoming movie also includes a star studded cast like Yao (Sinners), Jason Tobin (A Thousand Blows), Quincy Isaiah (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Jefferson White (Yellowstone) and Tayme Thapthimthong (The White Lotus).
