Patna: The state government has taken a major administrative decision to make the complete prohibition law in Bihar more effective and strict. With the aim of cracking down on smuggling and sale of illegal liquor in the state, now direct legal action will be taken not only against the smugglers but also against the manufacturing company of the brand of liquor which will be seized. Madan Sahni, Minister of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department, while giving formal information in this regard on Thursday, made it clear that under this new step, the owners of liquor companies will also be brought under the ambit of cases. The government claims that this system has improved the living standards and economic condition of daily wage laborers and poor families.
New rule started from Patna
The implementation of this tough decision of the government has also started. Minister Madan Sahni said that in the case of a large consignment of foreign liquor seized in the capital Patna recently, an FIR has also been registered against the concerned liquor manufacturing company.
During a press conference held at the JDU office, he said that people involved in smuggling and illegal business will not be spared, no matter how big their influence is. Necessary guidelines have been issued to the department to ensure strictest action against every accused breaking the law.

Putting an end to speculations about any kind of amendment or relaxation in the liquor prohibition law, the minister made it clear that there is no need for any review in this law at present. The government conducts departmental reviews from time to time, including the one conducted last month. He reminded that this law, which has been in force for the last decade, was implemented keeping in mind the social and economic welfare of the people of Bihar, especially women, Dalits, tribals and extremely backward classes. Tightening the noose on illegal networks
According to the Prohibition Department, the raid operations being conducted against illicit liquor and other dry intoxicants are being continuously intensified across the state. Citing figures, the minister said that more quantity of illicit liquor has been seized this year compared to last year. By bringing the manufacturing companies and their top management under the ambit of cases, the government wants to completely destroy the supply chain through which liquor is smuggled into Bihar from neighboring states.
