Striking stalactites found in newly discovered caves in Vietnam’s Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park
Chac Den Cave contains many stalactites and has not yet been fully explored.
The expedition team plans to return in 2027 to continue their research.
Despite initial surveys, Chac Den is assessed to have great potential for tourism development.
Pham Hong Thai, director ofPhong Nha – Ke Bang National Parksaid the 2026 survey has significantly expanded the park’s cave database, further affirming its outstanding geological, geomorphological, and karst system values.
Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Parkfeatures extensive, continuous limestone formations with minimal faulting, earning it the nickname the “kingdom of caves.”
Around 40 caves have been opened to tourism, notably Son Doong, the world’s largest.
