Patna: Amid the ongoing protests in Delhi over the NEET paper leak issue, protests were held in Patna on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. During this time, the students were stopped by the police by barricading JP Golambar. Now news of clash between police and students has come to light. According to the information, a large number of students were marching towards Raj Bhavan under the leadership of All India Students Association (AISA). The police tried to stop them at JP Golambar and appealed to them to return peacefully. However, the protesters started trying to move forward by crossing the barricades. During this, there was a scuffle between the police and the students, after which force was used.

In Patna too, thousands of students and youth have taken to the streets. Efforts are being made to stop them by using lathi charge, tear gas and water cannon.

Slogans raised against the government

Despite the police action, a large number of students remained standing at JP Golambar and kept raising slogans against the government. After some time, the protesters broke the barricades and moved towards Dakbungla intersection. There also the police deployed additional barricades and a large number of security forces. The police continued to try to stop the students from moving forward with water cannons and tear gas.

There is a demand for the resignation of the Education Minister

The students involved in the protest say that their movement is in support of the student movement going on at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Along with this, they are raising voice against paper leaks in various recruitment examinations including NEET, corruption in the education system and privatization of education. The protesters are also demanding reforms in the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the resignation of the Union Education Minister.

Students adamant on their demands

Meanwhile, during the demonstration, the escort vehicle of Patna Range IG was also attacked, in which the glass of the vehicle was damaged. Policemen were present in the vehicle at that time. However, there is no information about anyone being injured in this incident. The administration is continuously appealing to the students through loudspeakers to end the protest peacefully but the protesters are also adamant on their demands. At present, heavy police force is deployed in the entire area and the situation is being monitored.
