Give rest to Sanju or Abhishek, give chance to Vaibhav, Sunil Gavaskar’s advice to Team India
Delhi: Veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar has given a big statement about young opening batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He has appealed to the Indian team management to give the 15-year-old player a chance to debut in the two-match T20 series against Ireland. Gavaskar believes that head coach Gautam Gambhir can give a chance to Vaibhav by giving rest to experienced openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma for one match each.
Sanju and Abhishek may get a chance by giving rest
Gavaskar said while talking to India Today,
‘I will definitely give a chance to Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the T20 matches against Ireland. I want to see him playing in this series. Suppose, he should be included in the team in place of Sanju Samson or Abhishek Sharma. This can be done by resting Abhishek Sharma in one match and leaving Sanju Samson out in the other match.
The selectors had no option but to choose Vaibhav

Gavaskar believes that this short series against Ireland is a great opportunity for India, where this young batsman can be tested at the international level. He said that considering Vaibhav’s performance in the IPL, it was not possible for the selectors to ignore him.
he adds,
‘Well, this was already expected, wasn’t it? Look at what kind of form he was in. How could you keep him out of the team after seeing the number of runs he scored? You have to reward good performances and I think the selectors have done exactly that.

Along with advocating the inclusion of Vaibhav in the playing eleven, Gavaskar also said that being a part of the Indian dressing room will be a great experience for him. He believes that practicing with the country’s top white-ball players and being in a team environment will help his development a lot.
Gavaskar said,
‘Only time will tell whether he gets a chance to play the match or not. But sitting in that Indian dressing room in itself will be a great source of learning, which will be very useful in the beginning of his career.
