New Delhi. Bollywood actor Sunny Deol is in the news these days for his much-awaited film Bantwara 1947. The trailer of the film has received a great response from the audience and Sunny Deol is continuously engaged in its promotion. During this, he shared an emotional incident related to his superhit film Ghayal which won the hearts of not only his fans but also film lovers. Sunny told that there was a time when no producer was ready to invest money in this film but his father and veteran actor Dharmendra expressed his faith in him and that faith later became the foundation of one of the most memorable films of Indian cinema.
Sunny Deol shared a video with director Rajkumar Santoshi on social media, recalling that era. He explained that young Rajkumar Santoshi had written the story for Ghayal, and that he had complete faith in the story from the beginning. The two approached several producers, but none showed interest in making the film. After repeated disappointments, Sunny decided to narrate the story to his father, Dharmendra.
At the time, Dharmendra was shooting for the film Bantwara in Jaipur and staying at the Rambagh Palace. Sunny Deol approached him with Rajkumar Santoshi. Santoshi narrated the entire story, and as soon as it was finished, Dharmendra agreed to make the film without hesitation. Sunny explained that his father was proud not only of the story but also of the fact that his son recognized and believed in such a powerful script.
Sunny said that Ghayal’s success wasn’t just about the success of one film, but rather the triumph of her father’s trust and faith. She added that if Dharmendra hadn’t supported her at the time, Ghayal might never have reached the big screen. This trust became her greatest strength, and Ghayal went on to achieve tremendous box office success, establishing its own identity in Indian cinema.
Sunny Deol pointed out another interesting coincidence: the same city where Dharmendra said yes to Ghayal during the shooting of “Bantwara,” Jaipur, where he was filming “Bantwara,” is now, years later, the first promotion for his new film, “Bantwara 1947.” According to him, this isn’t just a coincidence, but a beautiful cycle of life that reminds him of both past struggles and new successes.
Partition 1947 is set against the backdrop of India’s Partition. Sunny Deol plays a Muslim man who ends up in Pakistan during the Partition. The house he lives in is occupied by a Hindu woman who refuses to leave her home. Amidst communal tensions and riots, Sunny’s character takes on the responsibility of protecting the woman and his family. The film highlights the importance of human relationships and the message of humanity.
The film marks Preity Zinta’s return to acting after more than five years. Karan Deol will also be seen in a pivotal role, playing Sunny Deol’s son. Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hazare, and Kanika Kapoor will also be seen in pivotal roles. Featuring music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar, the film has been approved by the censor board without any cuts. Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the film has already generated tremendous excitement among audiences.
