Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pace bowling coach Varun Aaron described the performances of debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain against Rajasthan Royals (RR) as “a dream come true for the team” after both bowlers took four wickets each in SRH’s 57-run victory on Monday.
Praful Hinge, 24, and 21-year-old Sakib Hussain were given an opportunity ahead of domestic and India veterans Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match. Praful recorded figures of 4/34 in four overs, while Sakib finished with 4/24 in four overs.
Speaking during the post-match press conference, Aaron commended the bowlers’ performances, stating, “To see two debutants come out and bowl the way they did tonight was a dream come true for the team.”
Praful, from Vidarbha, made an immediate impact by dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a golden duck in the first over of RR’s chase. He also took the wickets of Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius in the same over, reducing RR to 1-3, and later dismissed RR captain Riyan Parag in the third over.
Sakib, hailing from Bihar, claimed wickets including RR’s top-scorer Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over, along with Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi, helping to bowl RR out for 159 runs in 19 overs.
Aaron noted that the team had focused on execution from the start and encouraged the debutants to enjoy their experience on the field. He added, “The key was for us to just commit to our execution and that’s exactly what we did right from the get-go. My only plan for them was just to enjoy the game. Because you debut only once in any form of cricket and I feel from where they have come, both the bowlers, and what they have done today is massive.”
Earlier in the match, SRH posted 216 for 6, propelled by skipper Ishan’s innings of 91 runs from 44 balls, including eight fours and six sixes, supported by Heinrich Klaasen’s 40 from 26 balls and Nitish Kumar Reddy’s 28 from 13 balls.
