Road safety, de-addiction and cyber crime awareness program was organized at Mother India Convent School, Ratia with the aim of making students aware about road safety, ill effects of drugs and prevention of cyber crimes.

Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Nikita Khattar, IPS participated in the program as the chief guest and while interacting with the students, inspired them to adopt a safe, disciplined and drug-free life.
On reaching the school, the Superintendent of Police was welcomed with a bouquet by Managing Director Basant Batra, Principal Lokesh Batra, Sakshi Batra, Sunaina Bagla and the school management. The Superintendent of Police inaugurated the program by formally lighting the lamp. During this period, cultural presentations were also given by the students.

Addressing the students, Superintendent of Police Smt. Nikita Khattar, IPS said that students are the future of the country and society. If children get the right guidance, positive environment and proper opportunities at the right time, they can not only achieve success in their lives but can also become an inspiration for the society.
He told the students that discipline, good company, positive thinking, self-confidence and clear goals are very important for success in life. Youth should invest their energy in education, sports, art, cultural and other creative activities and should stay away from such habits and company which can affect their future.
Staying away from drugs is the only way to a safe and bright future.
Regarding the ill effects of drugs, the Superintendent of Police said that drugs not only harm a person’s health but also have a serious impact on his family, education, career and social life. Many times youth start taking drugs out of curiosity, bad company or peer pressure, which can later take the form of serious addiction. He called upon the students to stay away from all types of drugs and make their friends and people around them aware of its ill effects.
The Superintendent of Police said that if someone in the family or nearby is under the influence of drugs, then he should be encouraged to seek treatment and counseling instead of looking at him with contempt or hiding the problem. Family support, right guidance and timely treatment can play an important role in getting a person out of drug addiction. He said that the fight against drugs is not only the responsibility of the police but also of the family, school, teachers, students and every conscious citizen of the society.
Adherence to traffic rules and safety of life of self and others
While making students aware about road safety, SP Nikita Khattar said that traffic rules are not just a legal formality but are related to the safety of people’s lives. Even a little carelessness on the road can lead to a serious accident. He gave the message to the students to use helmet on two-wheeler, seat belt on four-wheeler, follow traffic signals and road signs and not to use mobile phone while driving.
He specifically said that underage driving is not only a violation of the law but also a risk to the safety of yourself and others. Students were also asked to motivate their parents and other family members to follow traffic rules.
Awareness and vigilance are the biggest security in the cyber world.
In view of the increasing cases of cyber crimes, the Superintendent of Police also made the students aware about the safe use of internet and social media. He said that technology should be used for convenience and education, but it is very important to be careful with it. He gave a clear message to the students that do not share OTP, password, bank account or ATM card information, Aadhaar related details and personal photos or other personal information with any unknown person. He advised to beware of unknown links, suspicious apps, fake online offers, lottery or prize messages and fake social media profiles.
People were asked to exercise utmost caution before accepting a friend request from an unknown person or sharing personal information with them on social media. The Superintendent of Police said that if any person is involved in financial cyber fraud, then a complaint should be lodged on cyber helpline number 1930 without wasting time, so that necessary action can be taken in time.
Students should become agents of positive change
Superintendent of Police, Smt. Nikita Khattar, IPS told the students that they should not only be aware themselves, but also spread the information related to road safety, drug de-addiction and cyber security to their family and friends. He said that aware students can play an important role in bringing positive changes in their family and society. He inspired the students to set big goals in life, make good use of time, participate in sports and creative activities along with studies and talk to parents, teachers or any trusted person instead of taking the wrong path in difficult situations.
At the end of the program, the school management expressed gratitude to Superintendent of Police Smt. Nikita Khattar, IPS and Fatehabad Police for making the students aware about road safety, drug addiction and cyber crimes.
