New Delhi. Bigg Boss fame singer-performer and prominent voice of the LGBTQIA+ community, Sushant Divgikar, has revealed one of the most important decisions of his life. He revealed that he has begun the process of medical gender transition and has been taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for the past five months. He also announced that he will now be known as Rani Sushant Divgikar with his new identity. His decision has been widely discussed on social media, with many praising his honesty and courage. Sushant explained that he did not make this decision hastily, but began the process after consulting with expert doctors and mental health experts for a long time. He says that gender transition is a very important and permanent decision in life, so he took the step only after understanding every medical and mental aspect. After completing all the necessary tests and getting permission from the experts, she started hormone therapy and has completed five months so far.
Speaking about her new name, she said that her parents lovingly named her Sushant, and it will always be a part of her identity. Rani, on the other hand, has been given to her by her fans over the years with affection and respect. That’s why she has decided to live her life as Rani Sushant Divgikar, keeping both names together.
She also revealed that she had originally intended to begin her transition in 2023, but filming and health issues at the time forced her to postpone her decision. One film required her to play a male character, and her liver function tests were not normal. Furthermore, health issues like anemia and iron deficiency forced her to wait.
Sushant says that his journey isn’t over yet, and he hopes to fully transition by 2027. He calls it the greatest gift of his life and says he couldn’t have given himself a better birthday present. He believes that everyone has the right to live their life with dignity and respect, and this belief gave him the strength to take this bold step.
He also dispelled many misconceptions about voice changes. He clarified that estrogen alone doesn’t change the voice when transitioning from male to female, while testosterone is the cause of the change in voice when transitioning from female to male. He said he was happy that this would not have any negative impact on his singing and voice.
Sharing his experience, Sushant also offered a message for those considering gender transition. He said that such a decision should be made solely for one’s own happiness and identity, not to meet someone else’s expectations. He believes that life is about living on one’s own terms and that it is never too late to accept one’s true identity. His open and positive message has garnered support from the LGBTQIA+ community as well as from various sections of society.
