Suspense of power continues in Tamil Nadu, TVK 2 seats away from majority –

Knews Desk– Political suspense regarding government formation in Tamil Nadu is continuously deepening. Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, which emerged as the largest party in the assembly elections, has not yet been successful in garnering a clear majority. In such a situation, party chief and actor Vijay met Governor Rajendra Arlekar for the third time in three days and staked claim to form the government, but the picture regarding support is still not clear.

TVK needs support of 11 additional MLAs

118 seats are needed for majority in the 234-member assembly. TVK got 108 seats in the election results, but due to Vijay’s victory on two seats, the effective number of the party is considered to be 107. TVK needed the support of at least 11 additional MLAs to form the government. So far the party has received the support of 5 seats of the Indian National Congress, 2 seats of the Communist Party of India and 2 seats of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). In this way, a total of 116 MLAs are being claimed in support of the party. However, there is still a gap of two seats for majority.

The biggest discussion in political circles is about the support of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Kazhagam and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam. According to sources, TVK’s memorandum submitted to the Governor did not include any official letter of support from VCK. This raised questions about whether TVK would actually be able to prove its majority.

TVK wrote a letter in support of Vijay’s party in a video

TVK released a video late on Friday night, showing AMMK’s newly elected MLA Kamaraj writing a letter in support of Vijay’s party. TVK claimed that it has the support of the AMMK MLA. But the matter became more controversial when AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dinakaran rejected this claim as fake. Dhinakaran immediately went to meet the Governor and handed over a separate letter. He claimed that the real support of the AMMK MLA is to the NDA and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance. He met AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Also talked about supporting Palaniswami as the chief ministerial candidate.

fake xerox copy

Dhinakaran made serious allegations against TVK, saying that the party had submitted a “fake Xerox copy” of the support letter to the Governor. Calling it a fraud, he said his party would file a criminal complaint against TVK. He also claimed that the NDA and AIADMK alliance will try to form the government by gathering the support of other parties.

Amidst this ongoing turmoil in Tamil Nadu politics, now everyone’s eyes are fixed on the next step of the Governor and the possible floor test.
