India’s Suvarna Raj clinched gold in the women’s F54 discus throw at the Asian Para Games, registering a best effort of 15.66 meters to finish ahead of competitors from Iran and Vietnam on Thursday.
Raj secured the top spot with her fifth throw, capping a consistent outing in which she crossed the 15-metre mark four times across six attempts.
Iran’s Shahla Hadidi claimed silver with a throw of 15.45 meters, while Vietnam’s Thi Ngoc Thuy Nguyen took bronze with 14.65 meters.
The F54 category features seated field athletes with impairments affecting trunk and lower-limb function.
Competitors throw from a specialized chair, relying on upper-body strength and arm movement to generate power.
