Home Minister Amit Shah is reaching Kolkata today. A meeting of newly elected BJP MLAs is being organized in his presence. The meeting will start at 4 pm at Vishwa Bangla Convention Center in Newtown.

According to BJP sources, in this meeting the leader of the legislative party will be elected, who will be the next Chief Minister of the state. The importance of the meeting has increased further with the presence of Amit Shah. The party will take the final decision on this occasion after taking the opinion of all the MLAs.

Suvendu Adhikari is the strongest contender

The name of Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari is being considered at the forefront in the race for the post of Chief Minister. Suvendu, who defeated Mamata Banerjee from Nandigram in the 2021 elections, has this time defeated Mamata on her home turf in Bhawanipur seat.

Party insiders say that Suvendu Adhikari has also been active in the organizational work of BJP and his role has been important in the party’s growth in Bengal. However, the final decision will be taken in the meeting itself.

Swearing in ceremony will be held tomorrow

The swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister and ministers of the new government will take place on Saturday, May 9. This program will be organized at 11 am at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on the birth anniversary of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore.

The oath ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of about 20 BJP ruled states, several Union Ministers and senior party leaders. Preparations are underway to make this program grand.
