Suzuki has begun on-road testing of its new entry-level electric hatchback, the Vision E Sky, on European roads. The heavily camouflaged prototype was recently spotted testing with European license plates. This compact EV was first introduced in concept form at the Japan Mobility Show. The company aims to position it as an affordable urban EV. It is expected to be available for sale in global markets by 2027.
Design and Size: Tall Body Compared to the S-Presso
The vehicle spotted during testing appears to be in the early development stages. Temporary round headlights have replaced the original concept’s connected LED light bar at the front. Despite the heavy camouflage, its upright and tall silhouette is clearly visible.
The testing model shows some practical changes compared to the concept:
The concept’s flush door handles have been replaced with traditional pull-type handles.
The digital camera mirrors have been replaced with regular side mirrors.
Aero-designed alloy wheels have been provided for aerodynamics.
Large air vents are provided on the front bumper for battery cooling.
Size-wise, this concept car measures 3,395mm in length, 1,475mm in width, and 1,625mm in height. It is slightly taller than the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, although it is smaller in length and width.
Battery, Range, and Performance
Suzuki has designed it for everyday urban use, office commuting, and local travel. It is built on Suzuki’s dedicated K-EV platform, which provides good cabin space despite its small size.

According to industry reports, it could feature a battery pack of approximately 29 kWh, powering a single front-axle electric motor. Upon launch in the international market, it will compete with vehicles like the Dacia Spring and Renault Twingo EV.
What will be the impact on the Indian market?
While testing has begun in Europe, Maruti Suzuki’s primary focus in India is on launching its large SUV, the e Vitara. Following this, the company may introduce an affordable hatchback EV based on the same platform to compete with popular vehicles like the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV. Local production in India will ensure its pricing is kept highly competitive.
