Andaman and Nicobar underwater flag 2026 : of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Andaman and Nicobar Islands) 2nd May 2026 in blue color and clean water became a very proud and historic day for India. The administration of this scenic union territory of India has set a new ‘Guinness World Record’ by hoisting the world’s largest Indian national flag at the bottom of the deep sea. The historic ceremony took place at the world-famous Radhanagar Beach in Swaraj Island (formerly known as Havelock Island). As soon as this record was recorded, there was a wave of happiness all over the country, a different enthusiasm and patriotic feeling is being seen among the countrymen.
The grandeur and painstaking planning of the campaign
This tricolor hoisted under water was not of ordinary size, but it was enormous, measuring 60 meters in length and 40 meters in width. Hoisting a national flag of such a large size in the deep waters of the sea was a very challenging and complicated task. More than 200 trained divers from various organizations participated in this difficult mission. Experts from Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Andaman Nicobar Police, Forest Department and many private scuba diving centers were gathered in this. The excellent coordination and hard work of all these teams made this seemingly impossible task a reality.

The dignitaries involved and the enthusiasm of the youth
Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi, Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar (retd) himself joined the diving team in this historic mission and boosted the morale of all. He was accompanied by Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar and Director General of Police H. S. Senior officials like Dhaliwal were also present. Not only the adults, but the youth also played a great and inspiring role in this campaign. Three school students, Fateh Jahaan Singh (16), Lavanya Ira (15) and Ranvijay Singh (14) joined this group of 200 divers and set a new precedent.

The youngsters said the experience of holding the national flag at the bottom of the sea was very emotional and exciting. The students, who study in schools in Delhi, Bengaluru and Gurugram, said they were thrilled to see the tricolor in the wonderful underwater world.
India isn’t just achieving milestones, it is redefining them.

Official certificate of Guinness Records
At 10.35 am on Saturday, Rishi Nath, Official Adjudicator of Guinness World Records officially announced this record and its certificate was given by Lieutenant Governor D. K. Handed over to Joshi. It was a very emotional moment for the islands as well as for the country. Deputy Governor D. K. Joshi in his speech lauded the commitment and coordination of all the teams. This achievement marks another milestone in Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ global standing.
Promoting global tourism and biodiversity
The main objective of this initiative was not only to record, but also to put Andaman and Nicobar Islands prominently on the world map as a world scuba diving and marine tourism hub. The waters around these islands are crystal-clear and rich in a variety of marine life. Through this campaign, light has been thrown on the marine biodiversity here at the global level. Also, an attempt was made to convey the message of making marine tourism eco-tourism.

Next Historic Step: ‘Underwater Human Structure’
Not stopping there, the Andaman administration is attempting to set another Guinness World Record on Sunday (May 3, 2026). The attempt will be to build the ‘Tallest Human Stack under water’ at the lighthouse diving site near Swaraj Island Jetty. Divers are ready to build this structure, which is at least 10 meters high.
A testimony to the glory of Mother India
By hoisting the tricolor in the deep waters of the sea, India has once again made the world aware of its immense strength and courage. It is not just an administrative achievement but a testimony to the glory and unity of Mother India. With this historic achievement, the name of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is now written in golden letters globally.
