Swatantra Bhardwaj, accused of allegedly assaulting Sanjay Azad, father of a girl named Nishu Azad at Jantar Mantar, has got relief from the court. Delhi court has granted interim bail to Swatantra Bhardwaj for three weeks. Swatantra is accused of killing Sanjay Azad. SC-ST Act was also imposed against him in this matter.
This matter was of June 23. The police took him into custody and released him after interrogation. But recently in a podcast, Swatantra had claimed that he had beaten a girl's father so much that he was on the verge of death. After this claim of independence, there was an uproar in Navesar.
Swatantra Bhardwaj went so far as to say that Chirag PaswanLeaders like Kapil Mishra are like his elder brothers. Chirag Paswan's statement came on this and he said that the person is taking advantage of his name. However, supporters of Swatantra Bhardwaj say that only after such statement in the podcast, political pressure came to impose such charges against Bhardwaj for crimes he has not committed. According to these supporters, the police, under pressure after protests by opposition politicians, had filed other sections against Swatantra.
Giving relief to Swatantra Bhardwaj, this decision was taken by Patiala House Court judge Saurabh Pratap Singh Lalre. Earlier during the hearing of the case on Monday, the court had decided that the proceedings would be conducted only under camera surveillance. Because a case has also been registered against Swatantra Bhardwaj under POCSO Act and SC-ST Act.
Last Friday, Swatantra Bhardwaj was arrested by Delhi Police from Bulandshahr, UP. Representatives of Cockroach Janata Party and MP Chandrashekhar Azade had surrounded the police station for his arrest. Apart from this, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also tweeted in support of Nishu Azad. There was a lot of politics in this matter. The controversy had escalated due to Swatantra Bhardwaj's claims and ultimately the police imposed strict penalties and arrested him.
