Dhruv Rathee Controversy: Youtuber Dhruv Rathee The Delhi High Court has given important directions regarding a controversial YouTube video. Court of Central Govt The Grievances Appellate Committee (GAC) has been ordered to decide within 15 days on the appeal against the removal of the video. The High Court also made it clear that non-compliance with its order would be taken seriously. The case is related to a video in which Dhruv Rathi allegedly said that Lord Rama, Mother Sita and Lord Krishna used to consume meat and liquor. A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court seeking the deletion of the video.

During the hearing, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Chetan Sharma represented the central government. He told the court that YouTube, being an intermediary platform, should have taken proper precautions and removed such content on its own. He argued that the content uploaded by Dhruv Rathi was harmful and divisive in society.

The ASG told the court that either Google should be prepared to remove the video immediately, or the court may pass an order based on the observations made by the bench. He further mentioned that content which creates division in the society and hurts the religious sentiments of the majority of the society should not be broadcast.

Meanwhile, counsel representing Google informed the court that the company has already submitted its reply to the petitioner Amita Sachdeva and an appeal has been filed with the GAC regarding the matter.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma directed the GAC to decide on the appeal within 15 days. The court also emphasized that non-compliance with the order would be taken seriously.

The case arose out of a petition filed by Advocate Amita Sachdeva; This petition was uploaded by Dhruv Rathi on YouTube on 21 March 2026 “Can Hindus Eat Beef?” (Can Hindus eat beef?) was about the video. He had approached the court objecting to the video titled ‘The Kerala Story 2 Exposed’.
