Talks fail in Islamabad, Iran returns without deal

Amidst the ongoing tension between Iran and America, a glimpse of hope was seen at the diplomatic level on Saturday, but this effort did not last long. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had reached Pakistan’s capital Islamabad with his team, where Pakistan was preparing to play the role of mediator between the two countries. However, in the absence of American representatives, the Iranian team returned without any concrete progress.

Iran is not in favor of direct talks with America

In fact, Iran has made it clear that it is not in favor of direct talks with America. In such a situation, Pakistan was trying to become a medium to convey the message between the two countries. According to the information, the possibility of special envoys from America also reaching Islamabad was being expressed, but there is uncertainty on this after the return of the Iranian delegation.

During this, Araghchi met Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Army Chief Syed Asim Munir were also present in this meeting. There was a detailed discussion in the meeting regarding the regional situation and mutual relations. However, after this the Iranian team left Islamabad instead of continuing further talks.

It is being told that after this visit Araghchi will also visit Muscat and Moscow. This indicates that Iran is trying to find a solution to this tension by contacting many countries simultaneously.

What did Ismail Bagai say?

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bagai has clearly said that direct talks with America are not possible under the current circumstances. He says that Iran will convey its concerns to America only through Pakistan. He described this conflict as an aggressive step imposed by America and praised Pakistan’s efforts to restore peace.

At the same time, there is talk of Donald Trump’s close envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner coming to Islamabad from the American side. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt indicated that Pakistan will play an important role in the negotiation process, while JD Vance and Marco Rubio will also keep an eye on the entire process.

Meanwhile, President Trump has said that a proposal is being prepared on behalf of Iran. However, its complete information has not been revealed yet. He also made clear that any deal would require Iran to give up its enriched uranium program and oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz must continue unhindered.
