Tata Motors is preparing to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in India with four new electric modelscovering everything from mainstream SUVs to a new premium EV family. The upcoming products are expected to strengthen Tata’s presence across different segments as the company moves towards a larger and more diverse EV line-up.
Tata Safari EV
One of the most anticipated launches is the Safari EVwhich is expected to arrive around the festive season of 2026. The electric SUV will sit above the Harrier EV and is expected to be offered with six- and seven-seat configurations.
The Safari EV is likely to share battery and electric powertrain technology with the Harrier EV. Larger battery options could offer driving ranges of around 500–600 kmdepending on the configuration.
A Possible Three-Row Electric MPV
Tata is also reportedly exploring a three-row electric MPV. While details remain limited, the model could provide the company with another offering for buyers looking for a spacious family EV.
The vehicle is still understood to be in development, meaning its final body style, specifications and launch timeline have not been confirmed.
Updated Tigor EV
Another electric model in Tata’s pipeline is an updated version of the Tigor EV. The facelift is expected to arrive towards the end of 2026 alongside updates to the petrol-powered Tigor.
The refreshed model is expected to receive styling changes to the front and rear, along with updates to the cabin and technology. It would continue to occupy the more affordable end of Tata’s electric portfolio.
Avinya EV Family
The biggest change to Tata’s EV strategy will come through the Avinya schedule. The company is preparing an entirely new premium electric family, with production expected to begin around the middle of 2027.
The first model is expected to use a sportback-style body and could be followed by additional body styles based on the same architecture. Tata is also reportedly considering a separate retail setup for the Avinya range.
The programme has undergone changes from its original plan, with current reports suggesting that the production models could use the Chery-JLR Freelander platform rather than the earlier JLR-derived architecture.
Tata’s EV Expansion Continues
Tata already offers electric versions of several models, including the Tiago, Tigor, Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Sierra and Harrier. The upcoming launches will extend this portfolio into larger family vehicles and the premium segment.
Tata Motors has also outlined plans for four new EV products and more than ten refreshes by FY31 as it targets greater EV penetration in India’s passenger vehicle market.
