Tata Sierra Diesel Base Trim’s Ownership Review On Video

The Tata Sierra is one of the most hyped-up SUVs in the mid-size SUV segment at the moment. So far, over 30,000 units have been delivered by the company, and there are still buyers who are waiting for their Sierras. Now, most of the Sierras seen on the roads are mid-spec or top-of-the-line variants. However, recently, a detailed ownership review of the base variant of the Sierra has been shared online.

This detailed review of the Tata Sierra base Smart Plus variant has been shared on YouTube by Paras Gaba on their page. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that the owner of this particular Sierra was driving on the road when he stopped him for the review. Soon after this, he asks him about his decision to buy the Sierra and which other cars he had seen before finalizing it.

The owner then mentions that he was using a Hyundai Verna before the Sierra and was looking at the Hyundai Creta as his upgrade. However, after comparing the Creta and the newly launched Sierra, he shifted to the Sierra as it looks more like an SUV. He added that the Sierra feels bigger and almost like a 7-seater SUV. Next up, the vlogger asked him about the exact variant and engine option bought by him.

To this, the owner mentions that he has opted for the Smart Plus variant of the Sierra, which is the base variant. As for the powertrain option, he has opted for the 1.5-litre diesel, which makes 116 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. The gearbox in this particular variant is limited to a 6-speed manual. The owner also highlights that he paid Rs 14.90 lakh for it on-road. Meanwhile, the petrol base Smart Plus was priced at Rs 13 lakh on-road.

The vlogger and the owner then start talking about the choice of this variant, to which the owner states that, according to him, it is the most value-for-money variant as it comes equipped with all the essential features. These include all four power windows, parking sensors, push start-stop button, rear AC vents, connected LED headlights, and LED taillights, along with many other features.

Next up, the vlogger asks the owner about the performance of the diesel and the reason for choosing it. To this, the owner highlights that the performance is amazing and it has enough power for highway cruising and easy city drives. Additionally, the suspension setup is also very comfortable and smooth. The only downside is that, compared to the diesel engine in a Hyundai Creta, the Sierra diesel engine feels slightly less refined.

As for the mileage, the owner mentions that in the city (not bumper-to-bumper traffic), the Sierra diesel offers a mileage of 17 kmpl. Meanwhile, on the highways, it offers a mileage of 20 kmpl, which is very impressive. Apart from this, when asked about the cabin space and safety, the owner highlights that the Sierra feels very safe and its build quality is solid. Additionally, the space inside the vehicle is also ample, and five people can comfortably sit inside it.

Talking about the downsides, the owner highlighted that the front bumper has a mud flap extension in it. And in case that flap, which extends, breaks, it will cause a complete replacement of the lower part of the bumper. Apart from this, the owner highlighted that if someone does not need all the fancy features, then the Sierra base Smart variant is one of the most value-for-money options in the market.
