Taylor Swift’s wedding guest Ryan Seacrest explains last-minute absence
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding was attended by hundreds of high-profile guests. However, one notable invitee, Ryan Seacrest, was unable to make it despite initially accepting the invitation.
Speaking on On Air with Ryan Seacrestthe 51-year-old television host and producer revealed that he had to miss the pop superstar and NFL star’s wedding after accepting a hosting gig for Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash. According to him, he had no choice but to cancel his RSVP due to the professional commitment.
“It was a confidential invitation to everybody that was invited. So when you were doing your reports about the wedding, I was just on the inside screaming, outside very composed. I RSVPd to go, and then Disney hired me to do the Fourth of July 250 special. And so, I had to cancel,” Seacrest said.
During the conversation, one of his co-hosts jokingly remarked that Swift’s invitation to him had been “a waste.”
Seacrest quickly shut down the comment, explaining, “It wasn’t a waste. I was actually really excited. I was kind of torn. I tried to do both. I tried to go to the wedding and to prepare for that show, but we started live on the 3rd.”
He went on to reveal that Swift had been looking forward to seeing him at the celebration after he initially confirmed his attendance.
“The irony was, after I RSVP’d the wedding, I saw them at dinner at a restaurant. She was like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be so much fun. We’re going to have the best time. It’s going to go late,’” he recounted.
Despite confirming his attendance, Seacrest later had to withdraw from the event because of his work commitment.
“I RSVP’d yes, I saw them a couple weeks later to confirm, then I had to cancel,” he added, while noting that he kept his promise to keep the wedding details confidential.
“I had to keep it secret. It was a confidential invitation to everybody that was invited,” the TV personality remarked.
Seacrest last interviewed the 14-time Grammy winner in October 2025 while she was promoting her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
