In the first session of the second day of the Colombo Test, 119 runs were scored for 1 wicket and India is gradually gaining control over this Test match. Saransh Jain was out at the beginning of the session, but Rishabh Pant continued his innings. He took hits from the balls of Asitha Fernando and Lahiru Kumara, but he did not waver and hit back at the opposition team. The innings was a bit slow compared to his usual style of play, but he stuck to his task and took India past 400 runs.
Dhruv Jurel, on the other hand, looked in great form – India's number 7 batsman is slowly adjusting to the Test cricket environment – along with strong defence, he also played excellent shots – he also completed his half-century and this unbroken partnership of 112 runs has put the visiting team ahead in the Test match. The Sri Lankan fast bowlers bowled with full enthusiasm, but the spinners remained ineffective even though the pitch was providing them with turn and bounce.
Till lunch break, India has scored 419 runs after playing 112 overs in the first innings and still has four wickets left. Rishabh Pant is unbeaten on 63 and Dhruv Jurel is unbeaten on 59 runs. The second session is going to decide the course of the match to a great extent.
