New Delhi: Indian cricket team has finally won the shortest match with big drama. India has defeated Japan by 2 runs in a rain-affected match of the Asia Cup. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Team India, batting first, scored only 32 runs, but the bowlers defended even this small total.
The match was reduced to 5-5 overs due to rain. India won the toss and chose to bat first, but right from the start the team fell apart like a pack of cards. Charlie Hara dismissed Abhishek Sharma on the very first ball. Abhishek could not even open an account.
who scored how many runs
In the second over, Sanju Samson returned after scoring 9 runs in 7 balls. Ishan Kishan was out for just 3 runs in the third over. On one hand, wickets were falling one after the other, on the other hand, captain Shreyas Iyer managed the match a bit and scored 16 runs in 12 balls, but he too got out in the last over. Japan could not beat the target of 33 runs
Chasing the target of 33 runs, the Japanese team started cautiously. The match remained stuck till the last over. Japan needed 8 runs in the last 6 balls and captain Iyer handed the ball to Akshar Patel. Akshar made the first ball dot and gave one run on the second. The third ball was wide. After this the Japanese batsmen looked under pressure. Japan needed 4 runs on the last ball, but Akshar again bowled a dot ball and gave India victory by 2 runs. In the end the Japanese team could score only 30 runs for 3 wickets.
Defeated 17 teams in T20I
With this victory, India created history. India has become the first team in the world to register 200 wins in T20 International. India has so far defeated 17 of the 20 teams against which it has played T20I for the first time. There were defeats only in the first encounter against New Zealand and West Indies, while the match against Scotland was inconclusive.
India's journey to 200 T20I wins was also special. The first win came against South Africa in 2006, the 50th win came against Sri Lanka in 2017, the 100th win came against West Indies in 2022, the 150th win came against Australia in 2024 and the 200th win now came against Japan in 2026.
