The Bluetooth SIG has officially announced that by 2027 the technology will undergo 4 major and epoch-changing changes. These upgrades will quadruple the connectivity speed and synchronize the internet usage and audio quality experience.

Under the new upgrade, the Bluetooth data transfer speed will directly increase to 7.5 Mbps from the current 2 Mbps. This means that the file transfer time will be reduced by almost 4 times. For example, a file that used to take 16 seconds to send will now transfer in just 4 seconds. This update will give users the best listening experience with seamless high-resolution and amazing lossless audio.

Freedom from connection congestion

With more than 5 billion Bluetooth devices worldwide currently operating on the 2.4 GHz band, the network is heavily jammed. On the lines of Wi-Fi, now Bluetooth will also shift to a new frequency. It will start operating on the 5 GHz band by 2027 and the 6 GHz band by 2028, reducing network interference and enabling ultra-low latency connectivity for gaming as well as AR/VR headsets.

Sitting far away, the lock of the house will open

Until now, a phone needed to be close to a Bluetooth device to operate, but with the arrival of the ‘IP Link’ feature, smart home accessories will get their own separate IP address. Even when traveling in months like March or August, users will be able to control their home Bluetooth smart lock from anywhere in the world without any additional Wi-Fi router or hub.

The Magic of Oracast

By 2027, ‘special audio’ will become standard in wireless calling and media support. The new ‘Auracast’ technology will allow multiple audio streams to be broadcast simultaneously in public venues such as concerts, stadiums or museums. People will be able to connect earbuds or hearing aids directly to the broadcast even without their smartphones, making it much easier to listen to live translations in different languages.
