>Tension increased again on ceasefire talks, Trump rejected Iran’s peace proposal, said – completely unacceptable
Washington. US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s proposal to end the ongoing war, calling it “completely unacceptable”. Trump received Iran’s proposal on Sunday and was hopeful that it would be successful in ending the war that started on February 28. The war has blocked the sea route, vital for global oil supplies, leaving many countries facing fuel shortages.
“I just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘representatives,'” Trump posted on Truth Social on Sunday. I don’t like it at all – it’s completely unacceptable.” Earlier, Trump had accused Iran of playing games with America for almost 50 years. He said, “Now he will not be happy for long.” Trump told the American media organization ‘Axios’, “I did not like his letter. This is not right. “I didn’t like his reaction.”
However, he declined to provide further details about Iran’s response. Meanwhile, Republican Party MP Lindsey Graham said that Trump should now consider taking military action. “I applaud President Trump’s sincere efforts to seek diplomatic solutions to change the behavior of the Iranian terrorist regime,” he said in a post on the social media platform X.
“However, given their continued attacks on international shipping, their continued attacks on our allies, and now the completely unacceptable response to the United States’ diplomatic overture, in my view it is time to consider a change in direction,” Graham said. Trump told Axios that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday and discussed other issues, including the response from Iran.
Regarding his conversation with Netanyahu, he said, “The conversation was very good. Our relations are good.” But Trump also said that the Iran talks are ”nobody else’s issue but my own issue.” The US and Israel started war with Iran on February 28 and the attacks were stopped after agreeing to a ceasefire on April 8. An agreement is being negotiated to end hostilities between the US and Iran, but so far peace has not been possible.
