According to a report, it was an employee of the State Bank of India (SBI) who first informed Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav about the theft of donations from the Ram temple.
The investigating agencies have found important clues during the investigation. This led to a thorough investigation of former and present employees of the bank who were involved in the counting of donations at the Ram temple. Based on the statements and evidence of 2 employees, the police was able to trace the link that leaked the confidential information of the temple. The police have interrogated three SBI employees in particular, trying to find out when and through what medium they informed the trust authorities about the incident.
The court of Special Judge (Prevention of Corruption Act) Rajat Verma rejected the bail applications of 3 accused Anukalp Mishra, Karunesh Pandey and Lavkush Mishra. Earlier, the bail applications of Avinash Shukla, Ram Shankar Mishra and Manish Yadav were also rejected. The court will hear the bail applications of the remaining two accused, Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu and Subhash Chandra Srivastava. As the bail application was rejected, the accused now have no option but to approach the High Court.
173 Recorded statements of witnesses
According to the chargesheet, the SIT has recorded the statements of 173 witnesses during the investigation. These include bank officers, security guards, CCTV operators, Chartered Accountants (CAs) and cash counting staff. An analysis of the CCTV footage revealed that 105 instances of cash withdrawal and concealment took place in the counting room. Apart from this, 86 receipts of valuables were not found during the investigation.
More than 7000 pages of charge sheet
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday filed a charge sheet of more than 7,000 pages in the Anti-Corruption Court in the Ram Temple donation case. The investigating officer reached the court with several boxes of charge sheets, forensic reports, bank statements and deposit slips.
Champat Rai, Mishra are not named in the charge sheet
The chargesheet, which was filed just before the expiry of the 90-day deadline, presented strong documentary and forensic evidence against the 8 main accused. However, in this charge sheet, the general secretary of 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust' Champat Rai and member of the trust Dr. Lawyers present in the court expressed strong displeasure as Anil Mishra's name was not included.
