The United States government has taken a very strict and historic step regarding the rules of immigration and citizenship. The US has launched its largest and most comprehensive process of revocation of citizenship in modern history. Under this legal action, the American citizenship of a total of 40 people, including a person of Indian origin, will be officially cancelled. This big step has created a stir among foreign-born citizens living in America. Major action by the US Justice Department: According to official information received from the US Department of Justice, legal proceedings for denaturalization are being carried forward rapidly against all these 40 people in various US courts. Officials say that the people included in this list had acquired American citizenship by fraud or on the basis of false documents. Charges of very serious nature have been framed against all of them. These mainly include heinous crimes like working as a secret agent of a foreign government, culpable homicide (manslaughter) and sexual crimes committed against a disabled person. The American administration is not at all in favor of giving citizenship of the country to people involved in such serious cases. Indian origin Balwinder Singh is also being tightened. In this much talked about and big case, the name of Indian origin Balwinder Singh, resident of California state, is also included. US authorities are taking formal action against Singh to revoke his citizenship in the state's Eastern District Court. The main serious allegation leveled against Balwinder Singh is that he had entered the United States illegally using fake identity and forged documents and later obtained American citizenship on these fraudulent grounds. Citizens of many other countries are also included in the list. This action is not limited to just one country. Apart from India, the people whose citizenship cancellation process has been started include citizens of various countries like Pakistan, Mexico, Cambodia, Nepal and Afghanistan. US Attorney General Todd Blanche said in clear words in an official statement on Monday, "Today's announcement marks the beginning of the largest and most stringent process of revocation of citizenship in our modern history. There will be no compromise on America's security and rule of law." This tough stance of the administration has made it clear that the government is no longer in a mood to show any laxity in cases of violation of immigration laws and fraud.
