Due to tightening emission norms in the country, companies are focusing on electrification as an alternative to diesel and conventional petrol engines. The 3 major SUVs coming in hybrid avatars in the future are as follows,
1. Renault Duster Hybrid
The new Renault Duster is likely to be the first of the three to be launched with a strong-hybrid powertrain. According to the company, this car may be launched around Diwali 2026. It will use a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a 49 bhp electric motor, a 20 bhp hybrid starter generator and a 1.4 kWh battery pack.

The total output of this entire system is expected to be around 160 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. With the help of the bigger engine and electric motor, this car will not only give more mileage but also better performance.
2. Hyundai Creta Hybrid
Hyundai is also developing a strong-hybrid engine for its flagship Creta SUV, which is likely to enter the Indian market by 2027. The company is moving towards hybrid technology to reduce its reliance on diesel engines in the mid-size SUV segment.
The Creta is currently available in petrol and diesel options. For customers who don't want to buy a fully electric car, but need good mileage, the strong-hybrid will be an excellent choice. This technology is of great benefit in city traffic and low speed travel.
