The dream of becoming PM, even CM is no more, why are BJP-Congress happy with the fate of 4 leaders?

All the regional parties of the country are shrinking one after the other. There are many leaders of these parties who were once dreaming of becoming Prime Minister and now even the post of Chief Minister is not left for them. After losing power, most of these parties are struggling for their existence. Interestingly, along with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in power at the Centre, Congress is also happy with the fate of these leaders. These include the names of Arvind Kejriwal, Nitish Kumar, Mamta Banerjee and K Chandrashekhar Rao, who at one time or the other have campaigned to challenge Narendra Modi at the Centre. Chandrababu Naidu, who has now joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), had also made a similar attempt but now he is happy with the NDA and is the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Mamata Banerjee, K Chandrashekhar Rao, Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu and Arvind Kejriwal made various efforts at different times to remove Narendra Modi and BJP from power. Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation of INDIA alliance but seeing it not working out as per his wish, he joined NDA. Similarly, Chandrababu Naidu also tried but in the end he joined NDA, became the Chief Minister with the support of BJP and now the NDA government at the Center is running with their support. The three arch rivals i.e. Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and K Chandrashekhar Rao have been out after losing the assembly elections in their respective states and the parties of all three have come in a very weak position.

Nitish Kumar

Lok Sabha elections were to be held in the month of April-May 2024. Till a few months before this, Nitish Kumar was seen as a staunch opponent of BJP and the leader of the camp against Narendra Modi. His attempt was to become the convenor of the INDIA alliance or rather a contender for the post of Prime Minister from the opposition. However, this did not happen and resentment started increasing. Nitish, who was dreaming of becoming the Prime Minister while being the Chief Minister of Bihar, ultimately deceived the opposition.

Nitish Kumar changed sides once again in January 2024. Defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Bihar and India Alliance at the national level and once again started appearing with NDA. Nitish Kumar, who was campaigning against Narendra Modi a few months ago, has now suddenly stood with the same Narendra Modi.

In 2025, NDA won in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, but in the end, even though he did not want to, he had to leave the post of Chief Minister of Bihar. Now he is a Rajya Sabha MP and it is being said that he can also become a minister in the central government. On the other hand, his party now has to work hard to maintain its existence. Perhaps this was the reason why Nitish Kumar, a staunch opponent of dynasticism, not only brought his own son Nishant Kumar into politics but also made him a minister in the Bihar government.

K Chandrashekhar Rao

At one time, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao i.e. KCR had decided to enlarge his role at the national level. In this effort, he changed the name of his party i.e. Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharat Rashtra Samithi. He also came to Bihar and met Nitish Kumar but it was visible on the stage itself that the chemistry was not developing. The main reason for this was that the goal of KCR was more or less the same goal of Nitish Kumar also. From here KCR returned empty handed and started saving his power. When assembly elections were held in 2023, the ground slipped under KCR’s feet.

KCR, the leader of the Telangana movement, lost badly in the assembly elections and was defeated by the Congress. As a result his party started disintegrating. This party broke in such a way that KCR’s own daughter Kavita was expelled and now she has formed her new party. Not only has KCR himself lost power, he has now become much less politically active.

Arvind Kejriwal

The ambitions of Arvind Kejriwal himself and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are not hidden from anyone. Sometimes he appeals to leave Congress and form a separate front and sometimes he contests elections in alliance with Congress. Amidst all this, Arvind Kejriwal went to jail over excise policy and when he returned, he could not save his party’s government in Delhi. All the big leaders of AAP, which won more than 90 percent seats twice, lost the elections.

Arvind Kejriwal, who had at one time announced defeating Sheila Dikshit, lost the election from his own assembly seat New Delhi and his party was out of power. Many big leaders of AAP have left it and now Rajya Sabha MPs have also changed sides. Now AAP is left with only Punjab and if it gets defeated there too then it will be difficult for Arvind Kejriwal to save the existence of the party.

Mamata Banerjee

It is said that Mamata Banerjee, who now talks about INDIA alliance, was never comfortable with it. The main reason was that she wanted to project herself in front of Narendra Modi but many other leaders including Congress were never ready for this. Mamata Banerjee, who did not give even a single seat to the Left and Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, has recently lost badly in the Bengal Assembly elections. Not only did she lose her power, she herself lost her assembly seat. In such a situation, his dream of becoming Prime Minister has also suffered a big setback.

One thing is common about these four leaders that along with BJP, Congress is also happy with the fate of all four. BJP has directly benefited from Nitish Kumar’s resignation from the post of Chief Minister and for the first time it has succeeded in making its Chief Minister in Bihar. Also, a leader whose image was secular has been removed from the Congress.

Congress itself defeated KCR and BJP, which is trying to establish its foothold in Telangana, is also happy about it. BJP feels that it can perform well in a direct contest with Congress. Similarly, Arvind Kejriwal was defeated by BJP but Congress is happy because wherever AAP has become strong, it has destroyed Congress. After Delhi and Punjab, it has also been seen in Goa and Gujarat that AAP has made a huge dent in the vote bank of Congress and Congress wants that AAP should not be able to return to power.

Congress is seeing its victory in Mamata Banerjee’s defeat because it feels that on this pretext, TMC’s attitude will weaken and Congress will also make space in Bengal. Till now Mamata Banerjee was not ready to give even a single seat to Congress but as soon as she lost the elections, she started talking about India alliance.
