WhatsApp Upcoming Feature: Messaging platform WhatsApp is bringing a new feature for its users. This feature will improve the experience of sharing Instagram Reels in WhatsApp chat. For this, a shortcut will be added to the attachment menu of the chat. With the help of this new shortcut, users will be able to share videos directly and quickly on WhatsApp.
Reels button available in chat
Users are told that a reels button will be provided in the chat. By tapping on this button, users will be able to browse recently watched, saved and liked reels. This feature is currently being rolled out to select beta users. (Photo Courtesy: Pinterest)
The new feature will work like this
According to a report shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users who downloaded WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.26.42.9 from Google Play Store will get this option. The new Reels button in chat will take users directly to their Instagram activity. Here users will see all recently viewed reels, as well as liked and saved reels. A reel can be selected by clicking on any of these sections and sent directly to the WhatsApp chat.
It is necessary to have a link to the account center of the WhatsApp account meta
To use WhatsApp’s new shortcut feature, users need to have their WhatsApp account linked to Meta’s Account Center. If a user keeps his WhatsApp account separate from Instagram and Facebook, he can share the reels using the app as before without linking the accounts. But due to this, users will not see the reels button in the chat attachment menu.
Already have the facility to share stories, posts and reels
WhatsApp already offers sharing of Instagram and Facebook stories, posts and reels via Media Picker. But for this, users have to open the picker and select different options. But the new shortcut reels will see a separate button in the attachment menu itself. Due to this, the video can be shared in one click without following any extra steps. This feature is found in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.26.42.9. Currently this feature is available to some beta testers. Information about when this feature will be rolled out for other users has not been shared yet.
