Satara : Athletes from Satara district have made Satara's sports world proud by achieving historic and unprecedented success in the 20th Asian Games held at Nagoya, Japan. Sahil Jadhav bagged two gold medals in the compound sport of archery, Rituja Pisal won a gold medal in hockey and Sudeshna Shivankar finished fourth in the field event of 4x100m relay. A grand rally and felicitation ceremony was organized on behalf of District Sports Council and District Sports Officer Office, Satara to honor all these meritorious athletes, their sports guides and parents.

Collector Santosh Patil, Chief Executive Officer Yashini Nagarajan, Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingle, Kolhapur Division Sports and Youth Services Deputy Director Suhas Patil and Education Officer Mrs. Shabnam Mujawar, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak along with thousands of citizen students participated in this felicitation ceremony.
This glory rally of the athletes was carried out in great enthusiasm on the route from Gandhi Maidan, Rajwada to Srimanta Chhatrapati Shahu District Sports Complex, Satara. Sahil Jadhav, Rituja Pisal and Sudeshna Shivankar were felicitated with medals, shawls and bouquets by dignitaries during the program.
On this occasion Collector Patil said, physical and mental health is maintained by sports, so students should play at least one sport in their life. Also, the players and guides should provide this opportunity to the district repeatedly. Superintendent of Police Pingle said, artificial intelligence i.e. A.I. Can do everything, but she can't win a medal in the Games; Therefore, students should keep their interest in sports and enjoy it to their heart's content.
