After a huge uproar and chaos created by the Samajwadi Party a day before the monsoon session of the UP Legislative Assembly, Speaker Satish Mahana adjourned the proceedings of the House indefinitely. Let us tell you that the proceedings of this session were earlier to continue till Thursday, August 6. After this sudden adjournment of the Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attacked the Samajwadi Party. He said that the SP did not allow any discussion in the House. Their behavior is anti-women, farmers and youth. He said that funds have been arranged for every section through the supplementary budget of Rs 59000 crore. The SP did not want the government to take forward the development works, hence they disrupted the proceedings of the House. Despite this obstruction by the SP, the supplementary budget has been passed.
Like Tuesday, on Wednesday, even before the House began, slogans were raised against the theft of Ram Temple offerings and the suspension of their MLA. Speaker Mahana appeared extremely emotional over the uproar. He even said, “I have to consider whether I deserve this chair.”
CM Yogi attacks SP
Speaking to the media after the Assembly proceedings were adjourned, CM Yogi said that the Samajwadi Party has once again shown its anti-people face. Disrupting the Assembly session is a grave injustice to the state’s youth, farmers, and women. We presented a supplementary budget of over ₹59,000 crore to announce new schemes for them and launch new programs for the welfare of the poor. Due to the Samajwadi Party’s negative attitude, no discussion on this issue could take place in the House.
SP obstructed development work
We attempted to reach every sector, including Anganwadi workers, cooks, and village watchmen. Their honorariums are to be increased, and discussions were to be held on women’s pensions, disabled pensions, and old-age pensions. However, the Samajwadi Party obstructed this as well. Despite all this, the Assembly passed a supplementary demand, and work will soon be done for all these sectors.
Mahana warned the Speaker that he would resign.
Earlier, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana even threatened to resign. He said, “I am deeply hurt and saddened by what happened in the House yesterday. For the first time, I feel that either our efforts fell short or Dr. Ambedkar is right, that the flaw lies not in the Constitution, but in individuals.”
He said that despite my refusal, several members posted photos and videos of the incident on social media. This is highly condemnable. He added that my long political career is now in its final stages. I will have to seriously consider whether what I have done over the past four and a half years was right or wrong. I will also consider whether I am worthy of this position and will make a decision soon.
What is the whole matter?
In fact, on Tuesday, Samajwadi Party MLAs created a ruckus in the Assembly, demanding a discussion on the Ram Temple donation theft. During this, SP MLA Sachin Yadav waved a poster. Mahana warned him not to do so, but he did not listen. Following this, an order was issued suspending Sachin for the entire session and marshals were ordered to remove the MLA. Following this order, there was a scuffle between the marshals and the MLAs.
The uproar continued on Wednesday as well.
Even on Wednesday, the SP MLAs’ attitude showed no signs of abating. They returned to the Assembly with more aggressive posturing than on Tuesday, carrying numerous posters, and continued the uproar both inside and outside the House. Following this, the House was adjourned twice briefly and then adjourned indefinitely.
