'The plan was to topple the government in 24 hours, but…', Iranian President Pejeshkian tells Trump

Tehran. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has launched a scathing attack on America's Donald Trump administration. He claimed that America had hoped that it would topple the current government of Iran and install a new government of its choice in just 24 hours, but its estimate proved to be completely wrong. According to Pejeshkian, America underestimated Iran's military capability as well as the morale and solidarity of its people.

In an interview, the Iranian President said that America believed that after attacking Iran's top leaders, military commanders and important targets, the people would stand up against the government. He claims that on the contrary, after the attacks, a large number of people came out on the streets in support of the government and the unity of the country.

Accused of adopting model like Venezuela and Syria

Pejeshkian alleged that the US tried to adopt a Venezuela-like path in the matter of Iran. They felt that through military action, control over Iran could be achieved within 24 hours and after that a government of their choice could be formed.

He also said that the US expected a Syria-like situation to arise in Iran. The American assessment was that after the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, military commanders and senior officials, the government would weaken and there would be a change of power within a few days. However, according to Pejeshkian, this did not happen.

  • Unity became stronger after the attacks

The Iranian President claimed that after the US attacks the people of the country became more united than before. Even some people who were angry with the government supported the government to protect the country's land and national unity.

Pejeshkian said the conflict has strengthened unity within Iran. He also claimed that some Iranian citizens living abroad returned to their country after the attacks.

According to him, Iran's government, army and people together faced the pressure from America and did not allow the strategy made against the country to succeed.

  • Despite military strength, did not bow down to Iran

Pejeshkian said that America initially tried to topple Iran's government through military power, but it did not succeed. After this, Iran's important structures and targets were targeted, yet America could not achieve its goals.

He said that Iran continued to compete even against a force equipped with state-of-the-art military technology. Pejeshkian stressed that a country's strength cannot be assessed solely on the basis of its weapons and military technology.

America accused of stopping the supply of food and medicines

The Iranian President also accused the US of disrupting the movement of essential goods, food and medicines into Iran. He said that America is trying to block the sea routes and efforts are also being made to close the land routes.

According to Pejeshkian, despite all these pressures, Iran's government, army and people together faced the circumstances and maintained the unity of the country.
