There is no one like Mitchell Starc… broke RR’s back by taking 3 wickets in 4 balls
Delhi Capitals (DC) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday (May 17) in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In this match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, RR came to bat first after losing the toss and scored 75 runs losing 1 wicket in the powerplay. The bats of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel were at their peak. Madhav Tiwari gave second success to DC by taking the wicket of Vaibhav (42 runs in 21 balls) in the eighth over. However, even after this, RR’s innings did not slow down and captain Ryan Parag along with Jurel created a ruckus.
Parag hit fifty in 23 balls and took RR to the score of 160 runs in 14 overs. Jurel had also settled on the crease and was unbeaten after scoring 44 runs in 29 balls. RR team seemed to be moving towards a huge total but Mitchell Starc put a break on their innings by taking 3 wickets in one over.

Starc destroyed RR
Jurel took a single on the first ball of Starc, who came in the 15th over. Now the strike was with Parag. Starc changed the pace and bowled a slower ball to Parag, which he tried to send over long-on but could not time it and Akshar took an excellent catch to bring relief to DC. Parag returned to the pavilion after scoring 51 runs in 26 balls with the help of 3 fours and 5 sixes.
Donovan Farrey, who came to the crease after Parag’s dismissal, tried to play a big shot on the very first ball but he did not get a chance to open his hand. Ferreira was also caught by Akshar at long on. His account was also not opened. Now Starc was on a hat-trick. New batsman Ravi Singh stopped Starc from taking a hat-trick but he too got blown away by the Australian fast bowler. Starc dismissed Ravi LBW and reduced RR’s score to 165/5.

RR could not even make 200
RR’s innings was derailed by Starc’s triple blow. She could score only 8 runs in the next 2 overs and also lost the wicket of Shubham Dubey. He had to field Dasun Shanaka as an impact player. Starc also troubled RR in the 19th over and ruined RR’s plans of crossing 200 by taking the wicket of Shanaka. Dhruv Jurel batted till the last over but failed to play the big shot. He was out on the fourth ball of the 20th over after scoring 53 runs in 40 balls. RR team could score only 193 runs after losing 8 wickets. Starc bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets for 40 runs in 4 overs.
