Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Media Incharge Baltej Pannu today strongly condemned the attempt to attack Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal at Takht Sri Hazur Sahib and said such an incident should not happen, especially in Gurdwara Sahib.
Baltej Pannu's big statement
Condemning the incident, AAP Punjab media in-charge Baltej Pannu said, "The attempted attack must be strongly condemned. There is no place for such violence in any religious institution, and the sanctity and dignity of Gurudwaras must be respected."
Along with this, Baltej Pannu said, "Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) needs to understand the sentiments that still exist in the Sikh community regarding the sacrilege incidents of 2015. Akali Dal formed the government five times by seeking votes in the name of sect, but during its government in 2015, incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji took place at many places."
Referring to the protests that followed these incidents, Baltej Pannu said, "When people came out to protest peacefully against the sacrilege, water cannons were fired on them and bullets were also fired, resulting in the loss of two Sikh lives." He said, "The pain and anger of those incidents are still in the minds of Sikhs. There is a need to understand this feeling."
Reiterating his point, Baltej Pannu said, "While the attempted attack on an individual must be condemned, the Akali Dal must also acknowledge the sentiments and grievances arising from the events of 2015." Baltej Pannu said, "The dignity of Gurudwara Sahib should be respected and no such incident of violence should take place at any religious place."
