Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is getting good response from the audience. The film maintained a strong hold at the box office since the initial days of its release. The film had a great start with earnings of Rs 59.70 crore on the first day. After this, business of Rs 37.10 crore was done on the second day and Rs 47.25 crore on the third day. On the fourth day, the film's earnings increased again and it collected Rs 55.85 crore. The figures of the first four days had taken the film towards huge success.
There were fluctuations in the film's earnings in the intervening days but its performance remained strong in the second week also. The film earned Rs 24.15 crore on the 10th day and Rs 25.70 crore on the 11th day. After this the earnings declined and on the 16th day the film's collection reached Rs 5.50 crore. However, on the 17th day, there was a jump in the earnings again and the film collected Rs 9.70 crore. On the third Sunday this figure increased to Rs 11.20 crore. According to Sacnilk report, the total net collection of the film in India in 18 days has been Rs 456.30 crore while the gross collection is reported to be Rs 533.75 crore.
Apart from India, the performance of Jailer 2 in foreign markets also remains excellent. On the 18th day, the film made a gross collection of around Rs 3 crore from the overseas market. With this, its total overseas earnings reached Rs 273.50 crore. Including figures from India and abroad, the worldwide gross collection of the film has reached Rs 807.25 crore. With this achievement the film has left Rajinikanth's previous big films behind.
Earlier, Rajinikanth's film 2.0 was considered to be the highest grossing film of his career. The worldwide collection of this film was said to be around Rs 675 crore. Whereas the jailer did a business of about Rs 605 crore and the porter did a business of Rs 516.70 crore. Now Jailer 2 has become Rajinikanth's biggest box office success, leaving all these films behind.
The film has also created a new record in Tamil Nadu. Jailor 2 has crossed Rs 200 crore gross collection in the state. It is said to be Rajinikanth's first film to achieve this figure within Tamil Nadu in the Tamil language. However, now the film has records of Vijay's films like The Greatest of All Time and Leo. The Greatest of All Time had a net collection of Rs 225.01 crore in Tamil Nadu while the net collection of Leo was Rs 271.11 crore.
Rajinikanth's popularity and the audience's support for the film has made Jailer 2 a huge success. Now it remains to be seen whether the film is able to reach the figure of Rs 900 crore in the coming days and whether it is able to challenge the record of Vijay's films in Tamil Nadu or not.
