This disease can be the cause of sudden heart attack while dancing, singing or in the gym, research reveals.
New Delhi . Diabetes can also be responsible for a sudden heart attack while dancing or exercising in the gym. Research conducted on diabetes shows that due to dietary changes and inadequate or lack of physical activity, the incidence of diabetes is increasing rapidly among young adults, most of whom are not aware that they have diabetes.
The risk of heart attack and stroke increases two to three times in adults with diabetes. Apart from this, low blood flow also increases the risk of neuropathy (nerve damage) in the feet, ulcers in the feet and infection. Diabetic retinopathy is an important cause of blindness and can even lead to kidney failure. Lotus Diabetes Foundation’s annual conference will be held in Delhi next month regarding all these problems. In this, new method of treatment of diabetes, method of treatment and efforts to eliminate diabetes completely through research will be discussed.
Regarding this, Dr. Rajat Jhamb, Additional Medical Superintendent at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and scientific member of the conference, said that such cases have been seen that when the youth were examined after a sudden heart attack, they were found to have diabetes. Heart problems increased due to diabetes. He said that diabetes is a big challenge for the country.
It is estimated that by 2025, diabetes cases in the country will cross seven crore. To deal with this problem, doctors from all over the world will gather in Delhi. During this period, research on diabetes will be presented. Besides, its prevention, new method of treatment, cure of diabetes and others will be discussed through research and study.
lack of awareness
There is lack of awareness among people regarding diabetes. Half of the patients in the country do not even know that they are suffering from diabetes. Sometimes they come to know about it after getting tested. According to Dr. Jhamb, in case of diabetes, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin. Or the body is not able to effectively use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone that controls blood sugar. In such a situation, we should get diabetes checked regularly so that problems caused by diabetes can be prevented in advance.
There are three types of diabetes
Diabetes is mainly type 1, type 2 and gestational. Type 1- This diabetes can occur at any age. It often occurs in children and teenagers. In this the body produces little or no insulin. It requires daily insulin injections.
Type 2- This diabetes is common in adults. Of the total cases, about 90 are of this type. In this the body is not able to make good use of the insulin produced. This problem can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle.
Gestational diabetes (GDM) is a condition characterized by high blood sugar during pregnancy and can cause problems for both the mother and the baby. GDM usually goes away after pregnancy. But affected women and their children have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
