This road will be widened in Bihar, good news for these districts

Patna. Several important proposals have emerged to improve the road and transportation system in Bihar. In light of the increasing traffic congestion and road accidents in the state, there is a strong focus on widening major roads and constructing new bypasses. In this regard, there is a demand to expedite the construction of the Muzaffarpur-Barauni four-lane road and the Muzaffarpur East Bypass.

In addition, there is a proposal to expand the Muzaffarpur-Barauni four-lane road and expand the four-lane road from Patna to the Jharkhand border. These projects are expected to facilitate transportation in several districts of Bihar and boost trade and industrial activities.

Emphasis on Widening the Muzaffarpur-Barauni Road

A request has been made to expedite the process of widening the Muzaffarpur-Barauni four-lane road under the Bharatmala Pariyojana. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been asked to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) soon and then initiate the tender process.

The widening of this road will improve connectivity between major cities and industrial areas in North Bihar. Strengthening road connectivity between Muzaffarpur and Barauni is expected to benefit both passenger and freight traffic.

Eastern Bypass to be Built in Muzaffarpur

The proposed Eastern Bypass for Muzaffarpur is also a key component of this plan. It aims to reduce the increasing traffic pressure within the city and provide better connectivity to the East-West Corridor. The bypass will reduce the need for heavy vehicles to travel through congested parts of the city. This is expected to help reduce traffic congestion and reduce travel time.

Four-Lane from Naubatpur to the Jharkhand Border

The second major project involves the four-laning of the road from Naubatpur to the Jharkhand border. This route is part of NH-139, which is part of the important road network connecting Patna to the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata corridor. Given the increasing traffic pressure and road accidents on this route, the need for road widening has been identified. The proposal calls for the construction of a four-lane road from Naubatpur to the Jharkhand border, along with the inclusion of the Aurangabad, Obra, and Amba bypasses.
