Those bloody conflicts of Bollywood, when the war between actor and director ruined the film, crores of rupees were lost in ego clash.
News India Live, Digital Desk: As much as there is love and fame in the world of glamour, there is an equal amount of tension and bitterness hidden behind the scenes. Often, when creative differences on the sets turn into ego battles, the entire film has to bear the brunt of it. There are many such examples in Bollywood where differences between big stars and famous directors not only spoiled the budget of the film but also at times ruined the content and box office performance of the film. Let us know about some such popular controversies.
1. Govinda vs David Dhawan: The painful end of friendship
The relationship between Govinda and David Dhawan, once considered Bollywood’s most hit pair, deteriorated during the remake of ‘Chashme Baddoor’. Govinda claimed that David kept him out of the film and spoke ill of him behind his back. The impact of this rift was that the pair never worked together again and during the ups and downs of Govinda’s career, he did not get the support of his most trusted director.
2. Shahid Kapoor vs Prabhas Srinu (Kabir Singh)
The film ‘Kabir Singh’ was a blockbuster, but there were reports of heated arguments between Shahid Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga on the sets. According to reports, Shahid had reservations about some violent scenes in the film. Although the film was a hit, the tension between the two remained in the news for a long time, due to which the ‘coordination’ in the team was not visible during the promotion of the film.
3. Sushant Singh Rajput vs Abhishek Kapoor (Kedarnath)
During the making of the film ‘Kedarnath’, deep differences had emerged between director Abhishek Kapoor and Sushant. The film got stuck midway due to legal disputes and internal disputes. This affected the release date and production quality of the film. Abhishek later admitted that there were many difficulties during the shooting, due to which the original vision of the film was affected in some way.
4. Kangana Ranaut vs Krish (Manikarnika)
This is one of the biggest controversies of Bollywood. After the shooting of ‘Manikarnika’ was half over, swords were drawn between Kangana and director Krish regarding the credit and direction of the film. The result was that Krish left the film midway and Kangana herself took charge. Due to this tussle, the budget of the film increased significantly and scenes of many actors were cut, due to which the film had to suffer huge losses.
5. Salman Khan vs Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Inshallah)
The pair of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan were going to come together after years through ‘Inshallah’. But just before the shooting started, there was a dispute between the two regarding ‘creative control’. Salman wanted some changes in the film, which Bhansali did not approve of. Ultimately this big film got canned with a loss of crores of rupees. Conclusion: When ‘Ego’ is heavy
Film making is a team work, but when the main faces start clashing with each other, the entire team and the audience suffer. Industry experts believe that due to these conflicts, many times the best stories die before coming on screen.
