Threat of Iran-Israel war, India prepared Plan-B, Army took command to deal with oil and gas crisis

News India Live, Digital Desk: Amidst the deepening clouds of war in the Middle East, India has become completely alert about its economy and energy needs. If the war between Iran and Israel turns severe, it may have a direct impact on India’s oil and gas supply. In view of this potential threat, Indian security agencies and the army have prepared a comprehensive strategic blueprint, so that the country’s progress does not stop even in the event of war. Army’s close watch on the ‘Strait of Hormuz’ India’s biggest concern is about the ‘Strait of Hormuz’, through which one-third of the world’s oil passes. Iran has often threatened to close this route. The Indian Navy has planned a special operation to increase patrolling of its warships on this route and provide security to merchant ships. The Army aims to ensure that no harm is caused to Indian tankers coming from Gulf countries. Strategic Petroleum Reserves: ‘Emergency Backup’ for crisis The government has put the huge ‘Strategic Petroleum Reserve’ (SPR) built within the country on high alert. India has large reserves of underground crude oil in Visakhapatnam, Mangalore and Padur. If the oil supply chain is disrupted due to war, India has enough stock to meet its needs for several weeks without any outside help. The Army and the Petroleum Ministry are working on strengthening the distribution mechanism of these reserves. Indian diplomacy and military strategists no longer want to depend on just one route. To ensure the inflow of crude oil in case of war, discussions have intensified on increasing supplies from Russia and African countries. Along with this, India is strengthening the security cordon on its western coast so that any infiltration or attack through sea route can be foiled. ‘Rationing’ and security blueprint at the domestic level. According to sources, if the crisis drags on, the army and the government together can issue new guidelines regarding the use of fuel. To ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel for essential services, the logistics network can be kept under the supervision of the Army. This ‘major plant’ will not only prevent oil shortage, but will also try to protect Indian consumers from the surge in prices in the global market.
