Three Baloch civilians, including two students, have allegedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces in separate incidents in Quetta, according to Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement.
Citing reports, Paank said 27-year-old student Wajid Baloch was allegedly taken away in the early hours of August 10 from Qambrani Road in Quetta by personnel of Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
In another incident, 17-year-old student Asfand Baloch was allegedly abducted on August 4 from Killi Almas Airport Road in Quetta. Paank alleged that personnel from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), CTD and Military Intelligence were involved.
“The disappearance of a minor is particularly alarming and raises serious concerns regarding his safety and well-being,” the rights organization said.
Paank also alleged that 40-year-old Asif Ali was forcibly disappeared from his home in Quetta on August 1 by ISI and CTD personnel. His whereabouts and condition have remained unknown since then, it said.
The organization described the alleged disappearances of students and other civilians as a serious human rights concern, saying the practice has created fear and suffering among families across Balochistan.
Paank called on Pakistani authorities to immediately disclose the whereabouts of Wajid Baloch, Asfand Baloch and Asif Ali, ensure their safety and physical integrity, and release them.
It also urged the United Nations, international human rights organizations and the international community to take note of what it described as a continuing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
The rights body called for an end to the practice, disclosure of the fate and whereabouts of all missing persons, accountability for those responsible and justice for victims and their families.
“Enforced disappearance is a serious violation of international human rights law,” Paank said, warning that such cases place individuals outside legal protection and expose them to risks including torture and other ill-treatment, while causing prolonged suffering to their families.
Paank alleged that Balochistan continues to witness enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of civilians by Pakistani forces.
