A five-storey building collapsed in South Delhi’s Satya Niketan, leaving several people trapped under the debris. Three people are reported dead, while three are said to be in critical condition. So far nine people have been rescued. Three of the injured have been referred to the AIIMS trauma centre. Rescue operations are underway at the scene. It is being said that a PG for students was also running in the building which collapsed. As Sunday was a holiday, most of the students were in PG.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed deep grief over the incident. PM Modi said, the incident of a building collapsing in Delhi’s Satya Niketan is tragic. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. Officials are working at the scene and providing assistance to those affected by the accident.
Amit Shah said, I am deeply saddened by the collapse of a building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan. I spoke to the Chief Minister, the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Director General of NDRF and reviewed the situation on the ground. The local administration and the NDRF are jointly conducting a massive rescue operation. All necessary medical assistance is being provided to the injured. I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured.
