Three police personnel suspended over alleged assault of woman during interrogation in Jharkhand

Three police personnel have been suspended in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan district following allegations that a woman was assaulted during interrogation, officials said on Tuesday.

The action was taken after district police authorities took cognisance of the incident and initiated an inquiry into the allegations. The case has drawn attention to the conduct of police personnel during questioning procedures.

SP Orders Probe Into Incident

According to an official statement issued by the district police, Superintendent of Police Nidhi Dwivedi ordered a departmental probe after receiving information about the alleged incident.The inquiry was launched to ascertain the circumstances under which the woman was questioned and to determine whether established procedures were followed during the interrogation.

Three Personnel Suspended

Police said that a preliminary examination of the matter brought to light the alleged involvement of three personnel attached to Kapali TOP under Chandil Police Station. Those suspended include the Officer-in-Charge of Kapali TOPan Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a lady constable. The suspensions have been imposed pending the outcome of the departmental investigation. Officials stated that the action was taken after the initial findings indicated a possible role of the three personnel in the alleged misconduct.
