Tibet Earthquake 2026: The risk of natural disasters seems to be increasing continuously in Tibet and Nepal. 24 hours after the severe floods in Nepal, another earthquake has occurred in Northern Tibet. The intensity of this earthquake that occurred today i.e. on the night of 27 August 2026 has been said to be 5.0. Once again the possibility of flash flood has been raised in Nepal. Considering the situation, China has also issued an alert in Tibet.
5.0 magnitude earthquake in Tibet
According to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), an earthquake of 5.0 magnitude occurred in northern Tibet late Thursday night. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of about 10 kilometers. According to the National Seismology Centre, an earthquake of 4.9 magnitude occurred at 8.15 pm on Thursday night. Its center was at 33.121 north latitude and 86.775 east longitude in the Tibet region.
This earthquake occurred far away from the areas where the severe flash flood caused huge devastation on Wednesday. Hundreds of people are reported dead in flood incidents, while more than 1000 people are reported missing.
Danger of flash flood again in Nepal
Amidst the devastation caused by floods, the danger of flash floods has once again been reported in Nepal. In view of the heavy rains in the hilly areas and the water level of the rivers, the local administration has been advised to remain alert. Sudden rise in water can increase the danger to people living in low-lying areas.
